Welcome to Star of the Redwoods Chapter
of the Order of the Eastern Star

Under COVID

Owing to a decision in 2021, by then Grand Master of California, Arthur Weiss, we are able to begin in person meetings beginning in June 2021. We are able to hold several events as well which allowed us to stay connected with each other and gave us a sense of continuity once again.

Chapter Mourns Passing of Its Chaplain

Our Chapter is in mourning over the loss of our Chaplain, Brother Jerry Pisani. Brother Jerry was recently elected to serve as our Chaplain. It was his goal to go up the line and to serve with his daughter Laura as her Worthy Patron in 2023. He was with us for one meeting in which he served as our Chaplain. A week and a half later he passed away. Jerry was a past master of Mill Valley Lodge, a past high priest of Marin Royal Arch and a passionate member of the Masonic fraternity. Our condolences to his family.

Recent Events

December Meetings

We held two meetings in December. At our second meeting, we enjoyed dinner beforehand as prepared by our own Mimi Davis PM, our Chapter Secretary and our districts Deputy Grand Matron. Afterwards, we retired to our Chapter meeting each dressed in our pajamas, as was the theme of the meeting. The weather limited the number of attendees, but we had fun nonetheless.

Installation of Officers

We held our installation of officers on November 21st, 2021. We would like to thank Linda Hoeser for presiding as well as our former Deputy Grand Matron Tracey Newell for helping to install our officers. We enjoyed refreshments and conversations afterwards.

Relay for Life

On September 18th, 2021, we participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. It was a 10 hour event beginning at 12:00 p.m. and ended at 10:00 p.m.

In July, we held our Annual Penny Rolling and Coin Counting event in which we enjoy a dinner and then invite our members to count and roll coins which they have brought or have been donated. The money is then given to charity.

Prior to June, we were holding twice a month video conferences in lieu of our monthly meetings. To facilitate this, links to our video conference were emailed to our membership several days beforehand by our secretary or by our Worthy Matron.
